Instructor: | Connie Lange |
Instructor Bio: | Connie inherited her love of fabrics and textiles from her mother. When Connie was eight her mother taught her to sew. Connie's journey with fabrics began through learning how to construct garments for 4-H. Connie started with sewing a trick skirt and through the nine years that Connie was a member of the Flying Needles 4-H Club, she progressed to tailoring a wool coat. In her early 20's Connie began exploring quilting through a beginning class. That first quilt was a nine patch snowball design, and Connie's quilting journey began. Through the years, Connie has taken many classes, pieced a variety of quilts, and learned different techniques. Over ten years ago, Connie took a class from internationally known designer, Judy Niemeyer, at Material Girl in Grand Island, Nebraska. Connie had tried paper piecing before, but she wasn't satisfied with the process. She thought she would give Judy's techniques a try. The class was a revelation for Connie: Judy's instructions were wonderful. Judy's method included the use of paper templates to cut the fabric and organizational tips for every step of the way. Using these techniques, even a difficult-looking quilt pattern became so much easier. Connie started her Quiltworx journey with Judy's Raindrops pattern, and that was just the beginning. Next Connie selected a class featuring the Hawaiian Star, or Prairie Star. Connie was hooked! Judy continues to inspire quilters with many new, unique and beautiful patterns making it difficult to choose just one. Connie's love of fabrics has continued as well. They speak to her and she finds unexpected ways to use today's extraordinary fabrics and colors in her quilts. Her signature technique is the art of fussy cutting which enhances Judy's quilt designs even more. Connie enjoys sharing her quilting experiences with other quilters. Many are beginners and have never paper pieced before, and others are experienced piecers that have used other techniques. Connie enjoys the wonderful experience of making friends and fellowship that quilting offers, and so Connie's journey continues. Are you ready to begin your journey to make the quilt of your dreams? Connie can guide you. |
